The initial HearDis! delivery includes the following:
HearDis! music player
Power connector (incl. power adapter if necessary)
3,5mm stereo jack to Cinch cable (RCA cable)
Network cable
The best installation place is the server cabin/rack (similar to image below). Make sure to choose a clean spot and consider the following:
Close to the amplifier
Close to power plug (permanent electricity supply)
Access to the network switch device or network connector
Enough space for proper ventilation
First, connect the audio cable (RCA cable) to the amplifier.
Select an input channel on the rear panel (e.g. AUX, Input A, Line A, ...)
Red RCA cable (right channel) to the red input or R
White RCA cable (left channel) to the white input or L
Be sure to connect to the appropriate input channel on the front panel of the amplifier (input, music source), e.g. AUX, Input A, Line A, ...
See examples below
Connect the power plug with the power socket
Use only the supplied power adapter
Plug the other end of the power supply into the media player
As soon as the player is properly connected, it will boot automatically and the power button will light up blue
Within the next minute, the device will start playing music
Plug the provided network cable into the network socket on the media player.
Plug the other end of the cable into the network switch
Make sure the selected port on the switch is available and enabled for access by your IT department.
Verify that the connection is working (flashing indicator lights on the port)
The media player should now be identifiable on your network, visible with an IP address (router, DHCP table).
Please make sure you have a constant network connection - the player needs to be online regularly and not blocked by a firewall so that it can be updated with new music content and troubleshooting support can be provided if needed.
These domains need to be whitelisted:
*.heardis.com
*.balena-cloud.com
These ports must be enabled:
443 TCP - Fore remote connection and content updates
123 UDP - For NTP time synchronisation
53 UDP - For DNS name resolution
When plugging the audio cable into the headphone port of the music player, you should hear music immediately
If you can't hear music, make sure the volume on the amplifier is at an audible level and that the right input channel at the amplifier is selected
If you still can't hear music, check the output signal by plugging headphones into that port of the music player (also see troubleshooting)
If you hear music via the headphones, then the music player has been installed correctly
If you can't hear music via the headphones, repeat the previous steps or visit the troubleshooting guide
We check on a regular basis to ensure that your online connection is working and that your player is updating properly - if there is a problem, we will get in touch with you.
Enjoy the music!
